Heart of Serenity

Blank space
gives way
to an ocean
of turquoise

Open hearts
that were surrounded
by steel gates

The silver key
unlocks the entry
to a path
paved with uncertainty

One day the map
will lead
to the treasure
that was buried
but forgotten

Trying to make sense
of scrambled
thoughts
and feelings

Sorrow
and loss
are part of
this journey

Take my hand
and guide
me to
the serenity
I lost
along with
my heart

Lust for a Skyline

By- Traci Taylor
November 2016

What does it mean to love a city?
it means you long
for dreams
bigger than yourself

That your soul is
meant to be free
to line up
with the skyscrapers
that form the
skyline of identity

Yearning to break away
from small town
white fences
and roam the open
minded busy streets
of love

Never being content
with falling asleep
with the sun
but lusting for the
burst of colors to
brighten the landscape
of your wildest dreams

Day by Day

The little hand of the clock seems stuck in place,
not even the sun wants to rise today.

Overwhelming feelings of darkness,
no one suspects the rain when there is sunshine.

Inhale and exhale,
one day at a time.

The weight of the world is not on my shoulders,
that heavy burden is mine alone.

Looking out into the grandeur city skyline,
within the distance inner peace is found.
