The Tinman

By-Traci Taylor
May 2016
Walking in circles,
the starting point always crammed
with the unfortunate thoughts of her

The path is paved with cracks
that will never seem to be filled
left without reason to believe they would close

Blooming trees in the fall
can no longer seem as beautiful as they once did
when they were looked at with unharmed eyes

Yearning for the strength to stray
to gain the ability to believe in self-love
somehow rebirth the emotions to love another

The question will always remain
how was it so easy
to leave
without the slightest urge to want to stay
